Day 1: On the first day we head north and into the county of Lancashire where we stay overnight at The Ramada Hotel, Southport. Right on the seafront. Its contemporary guest rooms all offer satellite TV and wireless internet access. Dinner and breakfast included.
Day 2: We head to Heysham on the Lancashire coast and take the mid-afternoon ferry to Douglas, Isle of Man.
In a short time we check-into the Rutland Hotel in Douglas where we stay for 4 nights.
Day 3: After breakfast – a lovely day out.
We join the Isle of Man Steam Railway which runs from Douglas on a breathtaking ride down to Port Erin – a Victorian town in the South of the Island. Admission to the fascinating Port Erin Steam Museum is included and also some free time in Port Erin itself.
Note: at times when IOM Steam Railway is not running an alternative excursion will operate.
From Port Erin we head down to the Sound for awesome views of the Calf of Man – a small island off the south coast. We return to Douglas via the towns of Port Mary and Castletown.
Day 4: Today we have a jaunt around the northern half of the Island. From Douglas we head up the coast and stop at while at Ramsey the 2nd largest town after Douglas. From here we head across the Island to Peel on the west coast. Peel is often referred to as a ‘city’ as it is home to the Island’s Cathedral.
From Peel we head back towards Douglas through the lush countryside and stop for a lovely treat at Green’s Tea Rooms at Tynwald Hill.
Day 5: Today is left free so you can relax and explore Douglas at your own pace.
Day 6: After a last, hearty (early) breakfast - it’s time to go home. We take the 08:45 Ferry from Douglas back to Heysham and continue our homeward journey.
