Weymouth, Crown Hotel (D)

The charming seaside town on the Dorset coast on a sheltered Bay at the mouth of the River Wey. The fine Georgian seafront is an impressive backdrop to the long arc of fine, golden sand. The views from the bay are spectacular, stretching across the horizon taking in the World Heritage Jurassic Coastline…

Day 1: The coach departs this morning on a leisurely drive to Dorset. We’ll arrive at our hotel this afternoon with time to settle-in to the hotel and freshen-up before dinner this evening.

Day 2: After a hearty breakfast we take a trip across the Dorset countryside to delightful, bustling town of Wimborne Minster.  Do visit the Minster while you’re here and the Priests House (opposite the Minster) is also well worth a look.  After Wimborne we head down to beautiful Poole.  There’s lots to see and do in Poole with its upmarket and lively harbour area.

Day 3: We’ll have another lovely day out today when go onto the Isle of Portland, and have a photo stop at Portland Bill. From here we take the Abbotsbury Road to the little resort of West Bay for a great view of the magnificent Jurassic coast from the picturesque harbour. From here we go to the market town of Dorchester. Famous author Thomas Hardy was born here and Dorchester is the fictional 'Casterbridge' of Thomas Hardy's novels. (There’s lots on the subject in the County Museum, well worth a visit if it interests you)

Day 4: Today is left free to relax and explore Weymouth at your own pace. 

Day 5: Sadly, it’s time to leave for home after our last hearty breakfast. We’ll make a few suitable stops on the way and arrive back late afternoon.
